The Esperanza Homes Story

Mike and Lori Rhodes, visionary leaders of Esperanza Homes and Bentsen Palm Development, want to create Master-Planned Communities in South Texas that emphasize “ecology-blended-lifestyles.” Located at the entrance to Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Bentsen Palm Development is surrounded by 3,000 acres of protected wildlife habitat. Miles of hike and bike trails connect families within each community to the wonders of our unique South Texas natural surroundings. Esperanza Homes was created to provide a first-class homebuilding company for the communities of Bentsen Palm Development, focusing on “green building,” providing energy efficiency, and incorporating native plants into all landscaping.

Esperanza Homes began operations in June of 2007, building homes for Retama Village at Bentsen Palm Development, an Active Adult Community for persons age 55 and older. Looking to “downsize their living costs, not their lifestyles,” these Active Adults were the perfect first customers for our new homebuilding company. With each completed home and satisfied customer, Esperanza Homes fine-tuned its “custom” plan designs, product selection and customer service model. Personal contact became Esperanza Homes’ trademark.

Esperanza Homes is now taking its “customer -first” model to the family community of Tanglewood at Bentsen Palm Development. All homeowners are members of the Bentsen Palm Development Association, the homeowners’ association. Covenants have been designed to protect the quality of eco-friendly-lifestyle and to enhance the investment made by each purchaser of a home in Tanglewood.
